Pearls of Wisdom #10: There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age 11.*

Honestly.

Do something for yourself; something that YOU enjoy on your birthday. Spend it with family and the people you love, don't rely on others to make it happen, because no one cares. If someone acts like they care, it's because they're using the idea of your birthday as an excuse to get drunk.

...and the Giants! DUDE!? That was like watching the Death Star explode. No. It was like watching King Leonidas's spear clip the side of Xerxes's face during that last scene in 300. What an amazing game. The Giants earned that win dude.

I have two speculations as to how the Giants came out with a defeat over the Patriots last night: 1. The most obvious of the two, the Giants played a solid defensive line. Strahan, Umenyiora, Alford, Robbins, and Tuck dominated this game "HANDS DOWN, KICK HIS ASS" (Natalie Portman) type deal. and 2. Bill Belichick's cut-off red hoodie.

I'm not gonna lie, seeing the faces on all those big-bad-Patriot-trash-talkers as the finals seconds of the fourth quarter came to an end made me shed a tear or two, haha.

And nothing against the Patriots or anything, but when you drive through Cape Cod on a Sunday morning and see "CONGRATS PATS ON A PERFECT SEASON AND A SUPERBOWL WIN!" plastered all over billboards on Route 6 before the game has even started, well...you have to root for the underdog.

It's a good thing I couldn't care less about football.

plague on both your houses [Jan. 10th, 2008|09:39 pm]
my mom took me to see the new york city ballet's romeo and juliet the other day at the lincoln center. now, i dont know if this is my inner band geek speaking, but i always end up becoming so incredibly moved by the orchestra pieces. maybe its because i know what its like to perform instrumentally and to express ideas and meaning through music, but my point is that music is so much more than finding the most obscure bands and keeping up with the latest trends. music is everywhere and in so many different forms and environments in which we appreciate each in their own way, and i think we forget about that sometimes.
